Cinnamon fragrance oil is extracted through steam distillation from Cinnamomum zeylanicum, also called Ceylon cinnamon or true cinnamon. This variant is extracted from the fresh leaves of the plant, which results in a wonderfully rich, milder, and golden oil that is the absolute most popular and appreciated cinnamon variant in aromatherapy.

Cinnamon leaf oil is known for its wonderfully calming, embracing, and soothing properties. It is hugely appreciated in your fragrance routines thanks to its deeply warm, earthy, and spicy scent profile. It is a great favorite to use in an atmospheric oil burner or diffuser to spread coziness, as well as a warming ingredient in bathwater or in a lovely massage oil (always well-diluted in a mild carrier oil, such as almond oil).

The cinnamon tree originates from the Indian subcontinent and has for centuries been one of the most valuable trade goods between India, China, and Egypt. The exact geographical origin of cinnamon was long a major and mythical mystery to the Western world. Old legends told dramatically that giant cinnamon birds collected the precious cinnamon twigs for their nests from a secret, mysterious place. Merchants then told how they tricked the birds to get hold of the coveted spice. This captivating myth remained the prevailing belief in Europe right up until the year 1310.
