Fragrance Oil - Cypress Organic 10ml

Fragrance oil from Mediterranean cypress

Organic essential oils are oils extracted from plants that are not grown with pesticides, fertilizers, or other chemicals.

Non-organic essential oils come from products where such chemicals may be used.

If you are concerned about such chemicals in your essential oils, you can look at our range of organic essential oils.

This is an organic essential oil for aromatherapy and fragrance sessions.

Cypress essential oil is extracted through steam distillation from the Italian or Mediterranean cypress. The oil is taken from the needles and twigs of young branches of these trees made famous by Van Gogh's paintings. Cypress essential oil is said to soothe strong emotions such as anger and is therefore useful to have during major life changes.

This essential oil is traditionally used in aromatherapy and skincare. It is used in a vaporizer to calm the mind and create a harmonious atmosphere.

The Mediterranean cypress is considered a tree of mourning according to Greek mythology. It is also associated with the god of the underworld, Hades. Phoenicians and Cretans used the wood from this tree to build ships and houses. The Egyptians made sarcophagi out of it and the Greeks carved statues of their gods from it. Legend says that Jesus Christ's cross was made of this wood, another reason why the cypress is associated with death. Ironically, the botanical name of cypress is derived from the Greek "Sempervirens", which means "live forever".
