Essential cypress oil is extracted through gentle steam distillation from the needles and twigs of the Italian Mediterranean cypress. The oil is taken from the young, fresh branches of these iconic trees, which have been made world-famous by, among other things, the artist Van Gogh's dramatic paintings. In aromatherapy, essential cypress oil is considered to have a wonderfully centering character that calms intense emotions in the moment, making it a very helpful and appreciated scent partner during periods of great life changes.

This essential oil has a long tradition of use in both classic aromatherapy and cosmetic skincare. It is a wonderful ingredient in diffusers and aroma lamps for purifying the air, focusing the mind, and creating a deeply harmonious and secure atmosphere in the home.

The Mediterranean cypress carries a rich history and was considered, among other things, a mourning tree in ancient Greek mythology, where it was often associated with Hades, the god of the underworld. Historically, this extremely durable wood has been highly valued; Phoenicians and Cretans used it to build sturdy ships and houses, while the Egyptians made sarcophagi from it and the Greeks carved beautiful statues of their gods. Legend even says that the cross in biblical stories was made of this very wood, which reinforces its historical connection to deep reverence. The botanical name for cypress is, however, derived from the Greek "Sempervirens," which beautifully means "live forever" and refers to the tree's evergreen nature.

A fresh, clear, deeply woody, and resinous aroma with refreshing undertones of green forest and a subtle masculine touch. The scent blends fantastically well with citrus fragrances like bergamot and lemon, as well as earthy wood oils like cedarwood to create a balanced room fragrance.
